Playlist For Driving To Your Internship Interview

By Allie Mitchell on June 5, 2016

Internship interviews can be nerve-wracking and have you feeling overly anxious regardless of whatever you are interviewing for. You are running around trying to find the right clothes to wear and do mock interviews to make sure you say all the right things. You sweat bullets thinking about all the things that could go wrong and you don’t spend enough time thinking about all the things that could go right.

Your head is everywhere and nowhere. You wonder how many people are interviewing for this internship and how many people will be interviewing you. Will they let you know right away if you got the job? Will they leave you in suspense and just never tell you, insinuating that you didn’t get the job? A million things that throw your mind in a bad direction and could ultimately hurt your chances of getting your dream internship.

Music, for most people, is something that can instantly put you in a different state of mind. If you are sad, listening to happy music may make you smile. If you are feeling sluggish, listening to some awesome dance music could give you more energy. Music can lift the mind and soul in a matter of seconds.

There is always that song that when it comes on, you just have to sing along because it just speaks to you. Listening to music while driving to your internship — or even getting ready for your internship — can put you in a good mood. The music can motivate you to think positive, make you lighter and much more approachable. Everyone has songs that they like and that make them feel good.

Here is a list of songs that will put you in a great mood while driving to your internship interview or shift, or for anything that is leaving you feeling stressed:

1. “Roar,” by Katy Perry: Honest and maybe even a bit cheesy, this song has heart. It is an anthem nonetheless for anyone wishing to speak up and speak out. It is motivational and has a just-do-it type of attitude.

2. “Work B*tch,” by Britney Spears: Speaking of just-do-it attitudes, this song gets right down to business and has no apologies for it. You will feel like you are doing this interview to get where you need to go. You are working for your livelihood, you are strong enough to work for what you need and want.

3. “Bo$$,” by Fifth Harmony: This song is more for the ladies and has a girl power element to it. It will make you feel as if you can do anything on your own, and well, you can! It lets you know that you don’t need anyone else but yourself to take care of you and you can make your dreams come true on your own. You will feel like you are the tallest and most headstrong girl in the room after listening to this song.

4. “Eye of the Tiger,” by Survivor: Classic, of all classics. This song will just get you pumped for anything. Eye on the prize is what this song is trying to convey. A good interview is your main goal. This song will keep you focused on what you need to do and how you need to proceed with your goals. This song will make you feel good about what you are prepared to do, giving you a sense of confidence.

5. “Bulletproof,” by La Roux: Nothing can hurt you this time around, is what this song is conveying to you. Even if you don’t get this position, you are still worth it. You just need to take what you learn from this interview and use it to your advantage for the next one. This song will make you feel as if words cannot hurt you and you just soak up all the information you’re receiving whether it is good or bad.

6. “Can’t Hold Us,” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton: This song is great to bounce along to in your car while attempting to sing the words. You might jumble over them a bit, but you will be trying to figure out the words and singing along so much that you will completely forget about your worries.

7. “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” by Kelly Clarkson: This song is pure strength. On your way to your interview you will feel like you can do anything and everything. Nothing can bring you down after you listen to this song. You are invincible. And that’s the way you should feel when you are going to something this important to you; you should have no stress on your shoulders at all.
