6 College Degrees That Will Make A Difference In The Lives of Others

By Uloop Guest Writer on June 12, 2013

The people who grow up caring about others are usually the people who pursue college degrees that benefit the general public. If you are the kind of person who took meticulous care of your pets and always worried about classmates that were out sick, then there is a long list of college degrees which lead to careers that you would consider fulfilling.

Nursing

People who want to help others but do not feel like they would want to become a doctor will often go on to receive medical assistant degrees and become nurses. You can get a medical assistant degree in Miami or a nursing degree from any accredited college and use that as a path towards a lifetime of helping others. The good part about being a nurse is that your services will be in demand, in high-paying positions, all over the country.

Emergency Medical Technician

When you hear people say that they are studying to be an EMT, then they are discussing the career of being an Emergency Medical Technician. You have to really care about helping people to take on this kind of a job because the hours are long and the pay is low. Many people use this as a stepping stone to becoming a fully certified paramedic.

Social Worker

The term “social worker” is a broad term that encompasses many careers. The people who get college degrees in social work go on to careers in helping troubled children, adults and whole families. Social workers will often go into situations where others will not go. A good example of a social worker who puts others ahead of himself is one who works for child protective services.

Dental Hygiene

A dentist is an educator as well as a medical professional. Most people consider going to the dentist to be an avoidable experience, but good dental hygiene is critical to overall good health. A dentist can explain how infections in the gums can spread to other parts of the body and how ignoring dental issues can lead to a long list of other health problems.

Education

Few college degrees make more of a difference in the lives of others than that of a teacher. The teaching profession is one of the most important professions in any culture and it is revered as one of the most critical professions a person can pursue.

Health Care Administrator

A health care administrator spends years in school learning how to get people the healthcare they need through the medical programs that are available. You will find jobs with private corporations or hospitals when you decide to take on this profession.

There is a significant portion of the population that cares enough about their fellow man to want to make a difference in as many lives as possible. If you want to make a difference in the lives others, then there is no better way to show that dedication than to pursue a college degree that will change the lives of other people. Caring for others can be your full-time job if you take the time to lay the proper foundation by pursuing the right college degree.
