Is it a smart idea to live with other people in graduate school or not?

Sometimes, it can be a great idea to live with other people while in graduate school, but sometimes it can be the worst decision. It depends on the level of responsibility amid the shared living space as far as finances, utilities, and supplies. However, if you don't get along with the people, it might be better off on your own.
I think nine times out of 10 it is a good idea to live with others for financial purposes if nothing else. Additionally, if you are going to a new school, it could be a nice and easy way to meet people...kind of like how freshmen in undergrad usually don't have singles. One thing I would recommend based on what I have heard from other people is that try to find people that are not in your exact cohort. This will allow for some separation from work and play; and it is again another way to expand your horizons socially.
